There is no better time than now to install a solar photovoltaic system at your business or home. In late 2008, congress passed a bill that not only extends the federal 30% tax credit for solar but also removes the $2,000 cap that existed on the previous tax credit. In addition to the tax credit provided by the federal government, the public service company of New Mexico (PNM) will pay you $.13 for every KWh generated by your PV system through their renewable energy credit (REC) program. New Mexico also has the Solar Market Development Tax Credit, or Solar Tax Credit (STC), that will pay you up to 10% (capped at $9,000) of your solar photovoltaic system.
